Bobba’s Bagels


6 cups flour

2 teaspoons salt

1.5 teaspoons sugar

50 gr yeast

1 egg


  1. Place 5 cups flour in basin and add salt and sugar, and make well in center.
  2. Put yeast in 1/4 cup water, and pour into well.  Mix well and leave to rise about 3/4 hour.
  3. Add beaten egg and remaining flour, and mix to firm dough, adding lukewarm water if necessary.
  4. Leave to reise again.
  5. Roll out to about 1/2″ thick, and cut into strips.  Form rings.  Leave to rise a little, till water in pot boils.
  6. Boil large pot of water with salt and sugar.
  7. Add bagels to water, and boil till they rise to top.
  8. Remove from water, place on hot baking sheet, and bake.
