Gran’s Haroset


6 apples – peeled, cored and grated coarsely

150 gr walnuts – chopped

3 Tablespoons ground cinnamon

3 Tablespoons honey

6-8 Tablespoons sweet red wine


Place apples and walnuts in large bowl. Sprinkle cinnamon over, and stir in honey and sweet wine.

Refrigerate until serving.

3 eggs

1 cup milk

150 gr butter

2.5 cups Self Raising flour

1.5 cups sugar

coarsely chopped walnuts

raisins, cranberries


Cover fruit and nuts with some of the flour to prevent them sinking to bottom of cake.

one-third cup breadcrumbs (or matza meal if you want to use this recipe for Pessach)
